Get to know Charlotte
The unlikely expat blogger behind MintRiverMarble

Hi, I'm Charlotte
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Springfield, United States.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to United States wasn’t part of the long-range plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much bigger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complex than they should.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
What Led Me to Create MintRiverMarble
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United States continues, and the learning process goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in Springfield or anywhere in United States, please feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Charlotte
